Course Objectives: The Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course is designed to meet the needs of the individual with more committment to learning about the various wilderness medical problems. In some ways, the course is like a Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician (W-EMT) certification, but without the technical aspects and protocols.
After taking this course you will be familiar with the most common backcountry problems. You'll have practiced evaluating, treating, and evacuating injured persons in wilderness settings. You'll have developed a sense for what situations require emergent medical assistance and how to proceed. To see list of topics covered check out a sample syllabus at the bottom of this page.
Course Dates: See the current schedule for our WFR courses. Check back often as sometimes demand creates a new course.
We also teach this course to groups that can arrange to meet our minimum capacity. If you have a group of people interested, please contact us for more information.
Time Commitment: The length of instruction is approximately 6 full days.
Course Cost: The cost is $325 per person for a new or expired student. We are pleased to offer a discounted price for recertification at $210.
Because we need a minimum of students to sustain costs for a course, we regret we are unable to offer refunds for cancellations within 2 weeks of a course.
Registration: After you have checked the availability of course dates you can proceed to register for a course.
